A heavily peated expression from the anCnoc series of single malts in the Scottish highlands.
Peated to 44ppm, which is considered heavily peated, this is a whisky of earthy, leathery smoke and underlying fruits.
Nose: Understated peat smoke and barbecue balanced by ripe pineapples, pears and a dark, rich tone of baked toffee apples. Subtle vanilla and sparks of fresh lemon rind lend lightness and elegance to the composition.
Palate: Structured and full, with rich smoke in balance with juicy gummy bears and the light, fizzy sweetness of spun sugar. Undertones of a hay barn and fudge give it a delicious weight. The finish long and growing, distinctly spicy and sweet with a warming, smoky finale.
AnCnoc is the single malt brand from the Knockdhu distillery, so named given the similarity in name to another distillery Knockando. Knockdhu's pair of stills are fitted with worm tubs and while the younger expressions are often fresh and sprightly the whiskies gain use their weight to gain complexity with age.
