A Dutch whisky/Scotch whisky blend from indie bottlers Adelphi as part of their Fusion series.
The second Winter Queen edition is a 19-year-old vatted from Scotland’s Mortlach, Bowmore and Teaninich distilleries, with Netherlands’ Zuidam.
Heavily sherry cask influenced, it is named after Elizabeth Stuart – daughter of King James VI of Scotland.
Born in 1596 she reigned as Queen Bohemia before spending most of her life in the Hague. From there, and dealing with wars and potential exile, shrewd diplomacy skills saw her political and cultural influence extend across Europe during the era.
400 bottles in the release.
Winter Queen joins fellow Fusion bottlings including Glover (Japan - Hanyu), Kincardine/E&K (India - Amrut) and Brisbane (Australia - Starward).
Adelphi is one of the world's top independent bottlers of whisky. They acquire casks already matured to bottle, as opposed to maturing them themselves, and the Adelphi brand has been synonymous with top quality whisky for in the post-2000 era. The company also owns the Ardnamurchan distillery on Scotland's east coast, which distilled its first spirit in 2014.
