A 36-year-old Miltonduff single cask bottled by Adelphi.
This is a rare 1981 vintage – part of an excellent parcel of Miltonduff casks Adelphi have got their hands on – and was botted 2018 at 51.8%. 138 bottles in the yield.
Owned by Chivas Brothers, Miltonduff is a big part of the Ballantine’s blend – one of the biggest selling Scotch whiskies in the world.
The distillery stills are quite large with sharply descending lyne arms – this results in minimal reflux and copper contact to keep the spirit thick and oily.
Rarely seen as an official single malt (there have been distillery door exclusives), Miltonduff is an often-overlooked distillery.
Un-chill filtered and with natural colour.
Adelphi is one of the world's top independent bottlers of whisky. They acquire casks already matured to bottle, as opposed to maturing them themselves, and the Adelphi brand has been synonymous with top quality whisky for in the post-2000 era. The company also owns the Ardnamurchan distillery on Scotland's east coast, which distilled its first spirit in 2014.
