A coastal, smoky single cask from the Tobermory distillery, bottled by Adelphi.
Based on the Isle Of Mull, Tobermory splits its distillation runs between peated and unpeated – Ledaig being the name given to the peated runs.
Distilled 2007 this was bottled 2019 as an 11-year-old. The cask yielded 290 bottles at 61.6%.
Adelphi is one of the world's top independent bottlers of whisky. They acquire casks already matured to bottle, as opposed to maturing them themselves, and the Adelphi brand has been synonymous with top quality whisky for in the post-2000 era. The company also owns the Ardnamurchan distillery on Scotland's east coast, which distilled its first spirit in 2014.
Tasting notes from Adelphi:
Drawn from a refill ex-sherry hogshead, this is summer gold with a quick bead. Sun dried seaweed, weathered barnacles, working dockyards and tarry rope sweetens to rice pudding a white chocolate mice.
Charred sticks, smoking kippers, gun powder and salt-encrusted cod.
A true West Coast whisky.
