A single smalt sherried whisky from an undisclosed distillery on Orkney by indie bottler Adelphi.
The second batch of the modern Breath Of The Isles, this was distilled 2007 and bottled in 2019 as a 11-year-old. 662 bottles at 58.7%.
Adelphi is one of the world's top independent bottlers of whisky. They acquire casks already matured to bottle, as opposed to maturing them themselves, and the Adelphi brand has been synonymous with top quality whisky for in the post-2000 era. The company also owns the Ardnamurchan distillery on Scotland's east coast, which distilled its first spirit in 2014.
Tasting notes from Adelphi:
Batch 2 of the latest run of our secret Isles range, this is from two ex-Sherry hogsheads and has an inviting amber colour with ginger highlights and a strong bead.
Runny honey on hot buttered toast, with Werther's Originals, Chocolate Eclairs, dried heather blossom and a maritime hint.
Sea salt and Lindt Caramel salted chocolate, distant coastal bonfire smoke with lingering hazelnut brittle.
