The latest edition of Adelphi's Breath Of Speyside series, this is another 2006 vintage bottled in 2020 as an 11-year-old, this is bottled at 56.8%.
631 bottles in this release. The 'Breath Of' series highlights single malt whiskies from undisclosed distilleries in Scottish regions.
Drawn from a refill ex-Sherry cask, a deep amber/polished mahogany colour, with good beading.
Nose: Mellow nose feel, not as dry as its predecessor. Bruised apple, tinned pear, burnt caramel – toffee apple? Oloroso sherry, sweet tobacco, soft leather.
Palate: Develops into vanilla toffee (Werther’s Originals; Chocolate Eclairs) with a drop of water.
Finish: A sweet, burnt toffee taste, then immediately bitter saccharine. Water introduces chocolate and cocoa powder, reduces the other tastes and gives a lightly mentholic aftertaste.
Adelphi is one of the world's top independent bottlers of whisky. They acquire casks already matured to bottle, as opposed to maturing them themselves, and the Adelphi brand has been synonymous with top quality whisky in the post-2000 era. The company also owns the Ardnamurchan distillery on Scotland's east coast, which distilled its first spirit in 2014.
