A sooty, spicy single cask from the Ardmore distillery, bottled by Adelphi.
This was distilled 2002 and bottled 2020 as an 18-year-old. It was drawn from a refill ex-bourbon hogshead, with 226 bottles at 55.8%.
Tasting notes from Adelphi:
Nose: The pungent, spicy nose is bursting with prunes, forest floor, peanut brittle, kippers, speck and soot.
Palate: The palate expands on this with leather, pine needles, green peppercorns, brine, Old Spice and the smoldering remnants of last night’s barbecue.
Finish: A lengthy, green finish brings this one home in style.
Adelphi is one of the world's top independent bottlers of whisky. They acquire casks already matured to bottle, as opposed to maturing them themselves, and the Adelphi brand has been synonymous with top quality whisky for in the post-2000 era. The company also owns the Ardnamurchan distillery on Scotland's east coast, which distilled its first spirit in 2014.
